Q&A: Aura Photo Analysis

Hi, everyone! :)

Exciting news here.  A couple of weeks ago, one of my readers sent in a great picture of his aura for me to analyze! I am flattered that someone trusts me enough to ask for my opinion. (I have blurred his face, just to protect the innocent! LOL) In the last few years, I've learned a thing or two about auras, so I am thrilled to give it a try!

The first thing I look for when analyzing an aura is the patterns that it contains. (The color is important, of course, but we'll get to that later.) This is a beautiful example of a banded aura! You can notice how the prevailing color (blue) is intercepted a few times with some horizontal violet and turquoise streaks. Banded aura bearers tend to be emotionally sensitive, and very perceptive of their surroundings. They also have an unconventional way of looking at the world, tend to be open-minded, but enjoy blazing their own paths and forging ahead their own way.  That isn't to say that this young man doesn't appreciate tradition, but he's likely to enjoy learning about all sorts of different ways of doing things, gathering as much information as possible before making up his own mind about the best way for him.

After we see the pattern, we can then analyze the colors that are contained within.  At first glance, you may say "Well, OK, blue and some bits of purple," but look closer!  Yes, the prevalent colors in this aura are cool blues and violets. But notice all of the different shades of blue, indigo, violet, turquoise!  These shades all belong to the cooler air/water realm, and underscore his sensitivity and perceptive abilities which can be used in conjunction with a strong logical mind and love for details. The deeper blue represents a quiet confidence, strong but not too pushy or aggressive. He's more of a constitutionally strong person, as opposed to one of those aggressive tough guys... he can keep his wits about him long after the meat-heads have gone home! ;)  There is also a lot of emotional strength here, with the ability to help calm other people by his mere presence. This guy would be fabulous in any profession which involves person-to-person interaction, problem solving, or helping others in distress as he's got the cool head combined with the natural strength that can make others feel at ease quickly. The turquoise shade suggests further that there is the natural ability for healing and helping, as well as a high energy level that can deplete quickly if not adequately addressed. This may mean that he dreams big, but doesn't always know how to complete the vision -- but the purple addition can help him find his way through a tougher life issue by instinct.  All purples signify a dignified and gracious personality, but I'm seeing a brighter violet which suggests to me a strong sense of vision, lots of dreams, and some psychic potential as well.

This is the first time that a reader has asked me to analyze an aura before, but I sure hope it isn't the last!  Hopefully, I've been able to provide some insight.  Thanks, "D," for giving me the chance to have a look at it! :)

What 'Unusual' Aura Colors Mean

While most people's auras contain a few different colors, there are also some important shades or patterns that don't really fit the standard mold.  Each aura is unique, and aura patterns can contain many different shades.  Some of these colors are explored here.

It is said that a mixture of mud-colored brown, dark grey, and light pink together have been seen in people with a serious or terminal illness, or other fatal condition.  Try some aura cleansing rituals to soothe and protect your spiritual health too.

Metallic shades are also present in the auras.  Silver streaks or spots are said to represent truth-seekers, or those wishing for guidance from God and other spiritual sources.  Gold indicates an extremely sensitive and highly aware individual.  Copper is usually seen in people who spend a lot of time outdoors or with environmental jobs (forestry, mining, farming).  One person has told me that a zinc-colored hue, which is similar to gold, but lighter in color, is often seen around genitals or sexual organs, but especially during arousal.

Off-white shades and pastels are frequently seen.  While white itself indicates the presence of a spiritual guardian, off-white such as cream or ivory indicates that someone is devoted to a path of higher spirituality, and that they are progressing accordingly.  Pearl and pearly shades are the hallmark of mediums or others who are highly in tune with the spiritual presences which surround us.  Ivory is the shade of someone who seeks goodness and truth, but is also adept at communicating those ideas to others and may serve as a great influence to others.

The meaning of different aura colors can also be found individually when the colors are mixed.  Most people have varying aura patterns to reflect different sides of their emotional spectrum as well.

About Energy Healing and Your Aura Type

The aura, which is a metaphysical layer of energy surrounding a body, is thought to have seven layers of energy which affect our physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.  The aura around each person is different, and thought to have various color energiess contained inside it. Aura condition can be determined by its color and thickness.

There are six basic colors which are associated with the human aura.  Each of these colors occur in everyone, but in most people, only one or two are dominant in each aura.

Shades of red tend to belong to passionate, active individuals with lots of aggression and proactivity.  Remember that having an aggressive personality doesn't necessarily mean something bad -- however, the brighter the shade of red, the more anger or rage one possesses.  Darker reds tend to be quietly aggressive, or use their assertive and passionate tendencies in a more positive and productive way.

Orange hues are all about creativity and ideas, as well as the need to communicate those ideas to others.  People with bright orange auras are often unconventional, and tend to think of creative solutions to problems.  These are the world's innovators.  Orange aura bearers must take care, however, to keep their minds open to more rational and logical ideas as well, as they sometimes take flights of fancy a bit too far.

Those with green auras are said to be ambitious Type-A personalities.  They notice the little details that others often miss, and care about adjusting those little things in order to improve the bigger picture.  On the downside, these people can sometimes get mired in the small details so much that they can miss the bigger picture entirely.

Blue aura bearers are spiritual, introspective, and love peace.  They are also interested in creating a peaceful environment and nurturing conditions for other people.  Brighter blues tend to be more nurturing and considerate of others, but the peace-craving darker blues can also be prone to depression and anxiety.  It's important for these people to find a balance, and also to allow others to take care of them once in awhile too, in order to recharge their batteries and to renew their sense of faith in other people.

Violets and purples are the psychics of the world!  Indigo shades tend to represent wisdom and knowledge, as well as a desire to continue learning and to seek further wisdom.  Deeper purples are also wise, filled with insight and vision.  Vivid purple aura bearers are people who have the ability to impact the world with their love and kindness.  (I'm a dark purple, by the way!)

People say that those with white auras are protected by angels, benevolent spirits, and positive energy.  They are also able to bring out the best or worst in other people, reflecting their energies back at others like a mirror.

Meaning of a Black, White, or Grey Aura

Black and white are not technically part of the color spectrum, but shades of those hues, including metallics and grays, are often prevalent in auras of all types.

People with these colors may be troubled.  Blacks, greys, and whites are often temporary or transitional auric presences that appear during times of great emotion and drama: either for good or for ill.

A silvery-grey color is often associated with a strong mind-body connection.  People who practice yoga, faith healing, or other forms of spiritual-physical improvement programs will often have shades of this color within their auric presence.

Black is a troubling color to see, as it often indicates extreme emotional or spiritual stress.  Those who are experiencing a crisis, abuse, addiction, or depression can reveal black within their auras.  Again, this is a transitional color, and as the spirit heals, so too can the aura.  Try some aura cleansing rituals if you need a positive change.

Heather grey can indicate a prolonged illness or a tendency toward pessimism, despite the experiences of the aura bearer.  It can also indicate a highly sensitive and fragile state of being which may need extra care.

Charcoal grey is seen in the auras of people with more severe depression, mental illness, or even suicidal tendencies.  It can also present in people who are feeling trapped and hopeless in their lives or situations.  These people need tending and nurturing, and more importantly, to find the ability to climb out of such a state before the aura darkens further.

White is a shade that is seen often in people who are seeking spiritual truth.  There can also be a shyness or introspection that sets these people apart from the rest of the crowd.  People with white in their auras may also be protected by a guardian angel, benevolent spirit, or bestowed with good fortune.

People may ask what a black aura means, what a grey aura looks like, or the meaning of a white aura.  The truth is that all of these colors and more can be incorporated in their aura patterns.  You're unique and have many different facets!

Q&A: Color-Changing Purple Aura

Recently, I had an anonymous question which was asked on one of my other posts.  My article about the purple aura had prompted a question from a mystery reader:

"in response to so my aura is a contstant purple, a mix between dark and light yet the ONLY time it has ever changed is when i become angry.. what does this mean?"

My answer is:  Fear not, Anonymous!  This is the sign of a completely normal, healthy aura.  Each aura is unique,  and aura patterns can contain many different shades of colors.  When you're dealing with high-stress situations, or experiencing intense emotions, the aura may change in color, pattern, brightness, or consistency.  For example, a person with a smoky grey aura might be depressed or self-absorbed, but perhaps during a time of crisis, the aura may lighten or change to another shade (say, a pale sky blue which indicates wisdom and sensitivity) as he or she gains awareness of his or her surroundings.  A solid aura may develop a sparkling texture, indicating the presence of a divine guardian, during stressful times as a departed friend or relative might be looking over your shoulder just when you need it.

Another possibility is that you are young or just not quite finished growing to your highest emotional potential.  As a result, your aura may change quickly as you flash from one state to another.  You might be experiencing a period of turbulence which makes the aura more quickly changeable than those of other people.  As things even out over the course of your life, you may experience more consistency in your auric shade.  Another thing that might help are some aura cleansing techniques.

Do you have any questions for me??  Please, feel free to leave me some comments and I'll be happy to post answers in an upcoming entry! :)

The Meaning of a Pink Aura

Pink is a pale, yet warm color within the aura spectrum. It reflects the passion of red, yet with a light and positive spin all its own. Corresponding to the element of fire and to the Root chakra, pink is a shade positivity, harmony, and love.

People with pink auras tend to be generally happy with their lives, or they strive to maintain positivity even in more negative and difficult circumstances.  Pink aura bearers can also thrive when being allowed to share their happiness with others.  As it does have an echo of a red auric energy, there is also a creative and determined vibration to this shade as well.

Pale pink is a light and bright pink shade.  When present in an aura, pale pink can indicate a loving and caring presence.  This person may be a natural healer and nurturer, striving to make the world a better place.  However, this person may also be unrealistic, with a tendency to over- or underestimate the reality of a situation.

Rose pink is a deeper, red-hued shade of pink.  A bearer of this aura often has a high level of trust and faith in other people, and may work very hard to help inspire or cultivate greatness in others.  Such selflessness may come with a price, however; a rose pink aura bearer may find that at the end of the day, there is nothing left for him or her!  This can create resentment or passive-aggressive methods of acting out.  You can do these aura polishing techniques if you are in need of extra help.

Salmon pink takes the positive and uplifting qualities of pink, and combines them with the energetic powerhouse of orange (red's passion and yellow's natural people skills).  Such a person may be useful in bringing out the very best in others and would do well in an altruistic line of work.

Lavender pink auras are not often seen as a permanent fixture, but this unusual color tends to be present in those with very sensual interests.  These folks may have a tendency to overindulge in sensual activities -- be it sex, good food, or overspending -- they love pleasure and work avidly to seek it.  While this joy and conviviality is often contagious, it can be self-detrimental as well.  Moderation is the key.

Mauve is a dusty shade of pink which can often indicate innocence, trustfulness and faith in others, as well as an interest in being viewed as a trustworthy and moral person.  However, on the negative side of this aura, is the tendency to be taken advantage of without learning many lessons from it.  This aura has the potential to grow into a stronger and clearer pink shade with age and education about the ways of the world.   aura is seen as one of the more quintessential orange aura shades. There is a clarity of vision and understanding associated with it, as well as bravery and inner strength.

The next time that you wonder what a pink aura means, you only have to look inward.  Each aura is unique, and aura patterns can contain many different shades of all colors.  Do what feels right for you!

The Brown Aura Color and Its Meanings

Brown is a deep, tranquil, and earthy hue within the auric spectrum. It is generally thought to be a combination of darkest orange, with a bit of green or blue energy thrown in for good measure.  Corresponding to the earth, it is a color of practicality, warmth, and persistence.

People with a brown aura, regardless of the shade of brown represented or the amount of within the aura, tend to be very businesslike and careful, but nurturing and generally interested in helping others. They are often very brave, and wonderful team players. On the negative side, however, despite their best or most loving intentions, brown aura individuals may have control issues or anxiety.  Brown aura bearers can also be of delicate constitution, needing extra time to charge their emotional batteries.

Light brown auras are a good example of the caring nurturer with a practical approach to solving problems.  The lighter color may indicate that the aura bearer is running out of energy, or is coming to the end of a major issue in his or her life.

Tan, like light brown, also symbolizes a depleted sense of energy.  However, a tan aura bearer tends to be less focused on feelings and emotions, and more concerned with logic and facts in order to achieve goals.

Greyish brown (mushroom color) is another shade that shows a deficiency in personal energy.  Brown aura bearers tend to deplete themselves quickly, so they need to take extra energy.  This shade indicates a slower and more careful thought process, in an attempt to pace him- or herself.  Try some aura polishing techniques if you need a positive change.

Chocolate is a common shade for the environmentally conscious, outdoorsy type of person.  This person can recharge those batteries by connecting with the earth, plants and animals.

Rusty brown can be indicative of a tough-as-nails, persistent person who will fight through anything to achieve his or her goals.  The addition of a red essence in this shade boosts the aura bearer's natural "brown" tendency to fade quickly.  There is an aggression here that can be channeled positively.

Reddish-clay brown aura bearers show persistence and grace under pressure, as well as a pioneering spirit and an unconventional nature.  However, there is also the tendency for a short temper or stubbornness to rear an ugly head occasionally.

Espresso brown is a calm, quiet shade that gives its bearer a simple elegance and a lot of common sense.  There may not be too many original ideas coming from this bearer, however the logic of such an individual is quite valuable when processing or improving upon ideas from other sources.

The next time that you wonder what a brown aura means, you only have to look inward.  Each aura is unique,  and aura patterns can contain many different shades of brown.  Do what feels right for you!

What Does a Purple or Violet Aura Mean?

Purple or violet is a cool, deep color within the aura spectrum, though it also has elements of warmth to it as well.  This hue corresponds to the elements of both fire and water, as it combines the deep passion of red with the mellow tranquility of blue. Purple  corresponds to the Crown chakra, and is a versatile and visionary  color.  People with a violet or purple aura are the wise and visionary souls of the auric spectrum.  A purple aura is typically a lover of humanity, a wise person who loves knowledge, and potentially intuitive. There is also an ability to organize and direct others well.

Lavender is a pale violet-like shade of purple. It is an airy and lighthearted color, indicating innocence and trust.  Lavender spots or halo around someone can also indicate a recent near-death experience.

Lilac is another pastel violet shade.  It possesses more pink than lavender, but with a definite pale purple hue.  Within an aura, this color symbolizes security without haughtiness, and a personal sense of spiritual stability.  These people are confident and natural leaders.

Magenta is like lilac with the volume turned way, way up! People with magenta in their auric presence have a distinct sense of originality and a pioneering spirit.  This is the color that is most prominent in entrepreneurs, inventors, and other visionaries.  This can be an aggressive color, though that isn't necessarily a bad thing.  They can be so unconventional that they are often perceived as crazy and kooky, yet there is often a method to their madness.  Try some aura polishing techniques if you need to slow down a bit.

Mauve
is a dusty mixture of magenta and lilac.  It's a soft, soothing color that is actually a close cousin of the pink aura bearer.  A mauve aura indicates honesty, yet modesty, and a certain understated helpfulness.  There is much quiet beauty and unspoken confidence in this auric energy.

Royal purple is bold and luscious, as is the person who shows this aura shade in their auric field.  There is a dreamy, imaginative quality in this shade which can prompt its bearer to be blessed with an amazing sense of vision.  This is another entrepreneurial, pioneering aura, yet care must be taken that this person does not spend his or her entire life dreaming and making big plans without following through!  Like a king or a queen, this person is bold and dynamic, with a flair for imagination.  Look for other aura colors to help strike a balance; with the proper motivation, or by seeking practical cohorts, these visions can be brought into reality.

Grape violet is a paler shade of royal, with a bit of dustiness to it.  It is still rather bold, but with less of an edge.  There is the bold visionary spirit present in royal shades, yet there is more idleness.  These are often folks who have big plans and dreams, yet much trouble following through or bringing those thoughts into any meaningful practice.  Laziness can be the downfall of the grape-hued aura, but with dedication and a desire to work through the troubled spots, this can be modified to a more positive violet hue.

Darkest violet purple is a deep, dark, intense version of royal purple.  It can be so dark that you might compare it to a purple midnight sky. This color has the humility and vision that accompanies most purple shades, but as the darkest shade on the purple auric spectrum, it is also one of the most powerful.  These are the true visionaries of the world.  Many psychics (including yours truly!) possess a dark violet or purple aura which indicates a mystic sense of empathy as well as a deep desire to aid and comfort others.

Many people want to know, "What does a purple aura mean?" And hopefully, I have answered this question.  All auras are unique.  Every aura is different, and different things may work for various aura colors and aura patterns.  Do what feels right for you!

The Blue Aura Color Meaning

Historically, blue has always been considered a cooling and soothing color.  In auric traditions, this point of view is no different.  Blue is considered the coolest and most peaceful color in the auric spectrum.  It corresponds primarily to the element of water, with a nod toward air.  It also corresponds to the Throat chakra, and is a peaceful and healing color.

Those people with blue auras are naturally peaceful and peace-loving people.  They are often calm and wise, with an insight of someone well beyond their years. They are often very sensitive to the feelings of those around them, with a heightened awareness of physical and emotional conditions.

Turquoise is a soft blue with just a touch of green.  People with this color present in their auras are often survivors of traumatic and difficult experiences.  However, they have also learned to put their past sufferings in proportion and have moved on with their lives, learning lessons and often interested in counselling others to heal as well.

A sky blue aura indicates a deep sensitivity of one's surroundings, and a great deal of wisdom. These are our philosophers and deep thinkers.

Periwinkle blue is not often seen in auras, but like the sky blue type, these are sensitive souls.  People with an aura which is periwinkle often have better instincts with people than their sky-blue counterparts.

Cobalt is a lovely, bold, true blue.  The cobalt aura's sensitivity is on a more practical level than the skies and periwinkles of the world, but make no mistake, they know what's going on.  Cobalt aura bearers are often intelligent and very logical.

Royal blue is a deep, dark blue.  An aura of this color tends to be around people whose natural instincts are leading them in the best possible direction.  Some royal aura bearers tend to be plagued with misfortune, but their common sense and their abilities to make strong connections with others, will often help their transition through difficult situations become much easier.

Navy (or "velvet blue" if you drive a Kia!) is one of the safest and most stable aura colors in existence.  These people are practical, but sensitive to the conditions around them.  Navy blue aura bearers are often trustworthy and sane, yet slow-but-steady in their methods.  Rely on a navy blue aura bearer, and you won't go wrong.

Midnight has the sane practicality of a navy blue aura, but also has just the faintest hint of green within it.  This indicates a deep soul with a strong urge to use his or her gifts to help other people.  Midnight blue sensitivity can run very high.  These are loving souls.

Indigo is like a midnight blue with a purple tinge to it.  Like those on the purple spectrum, these aura bearers have a sensitivity so deep that they also often demonstrate psychic tendencies.  They also have the sensitivity and peace of a blue aura bearer as well.  However, for all of their wisdom, they can often be short-sighted or having trouble taking other people's feelings into account.  Try some aura polishing techniques if you need a little enlightenment.

A blue aura can mean so many different things!  Even aura patterns can help you determine how best to address your strengths and weaknesses.  Do what feels right for you!

A Green Aura and Its Meanings

Green is one of cooler and more soothing colors within the aura spectrum.  This hue corresponds to the elements of earth and water.  Green corresponds to the Heart chakra, and is a peaceful and healing color.

People with green auras, in whole or in part, are natural healers.  They often derive great joy from helping others, and they're usually very good at it as well.  Most shades tend toward peaceful and relaxed behavior, with just a spark of inspiration and positivity to balance things.

The mint green aura tends to be found in very spiritual people.  Clergy or those who live their lives as pacifists tend to have this color present somewhere in their auric composition.  They seek spiritual advancement as part of their overall growth.

Apple green -- like a Granny Smith apple -- may seem like a sour, strong color in the physical world.  But when it comes to auric colors, this shade is actually a quintessential healer color.  You will find this in people in the medical profession, as well as caring and nurturing people.

Lime green aura bearers can be difficult to handle.  Because of the high yellow content in this color, they have the ability (like many yellow aura folks) to manipulate or take advantage of other people.  However, the green spark gives them the ability to get away with it more often than not; the healing properties of green will also "reverse" onto themselves, reducing their guilt about deception against others.  Aura colors can be changed, but yellow-based shades are often very reluctant or unable to change.  Proceed with caution.

Shimmering green auras are amazing to behold.  Those with this aura tend to be social butterflies, loving nothing more than to be in the company of others.  They enjoy the limelight; being the center of attention is their idea of heaven.  Generally they mean well enough, and are fascinating communicators and story tellers.

Emerald green auras are often seen in people who have experienced a lot of turmoil in life, and who have finally relaxed enough to close the door on those problems and move on with their life.  They are often only too happy to lend their counsel to other people in similar situations.

Aquamarine auras generally come before an emerald green aura has the chance to develop.  This person may still be experiencing trauma or stress, but is just beginning to come to terms with those issues.  They often turn to other people in trouble, or others who are in need of help, as a form of escapism of their own issues. However, the clouds in their lives are "clearing," and offering help to other people is actually a healthy and therapeutic thing to do -- provided that they don't escape into other people permanently!

Dark or muddy greens, such as olive green, can indicate a slow and sluggish thought process, especially where other people's wellbeing is concerned.  There is also a tendency toward stinginess and selfishness, as well as a conservative nature that is so deeply ingrained that it becomes detrimental instead of merely cautious.  Try some aura polishing techniques if you need help.

Other deep green shades indicate positivity, benevolent and caring personalities, as well as healing tendencies.   Green aura bearers have a strong connection with the earth and with other people.  These are the types of people who make excellent friends and caring partners.

A green aura can mean many things depending on the shade, so find the one that works best for you.  Every aura is different, and different things may work for various aura colors and aura patterns. Go with your instincts!

What Does a Yellow Aura Mean?

Yellow is a bright, warm color within the aura spectrum.  This hue corresponds to the elements of air as well as earth, with a nod towards fire.  Yellow corresponds to the Solar Plexus chakra, and is a versatile and uplifting color.  Yellow aura bearers tend to be dreamers, and they often dream big.  Those who possess this auric shade can often enlighten and uplift those around them with their positivity and genuine interest in helping other people.  However, don't let this uplifting shade fool you; there is a "dark side" to the yellow aura as well.  While there is a tendency to cheerfulness and helpfulness, there is also a talent for glibness, and in some people, the ability to maniplulate and take advantage.  This auric presence is truly a unique one.

Pastel yellow, contrary to many of its yellow-hued cousins, is actually found in the auras of shy, introverted people.  While the concern for others and clarity of thought are present, the people skills aren't always there.  This person would do well to try coming out of his or her shell to deepen their yellow aura hue a bit.

Maize yellow, which is another pale shade of yellow resembling uncooked corn, can also indicate introverted tendencies.  However, this aura bearer is not nervous or shy; they are simply unaware of others' feelings or presences.  This shade is often found in daydreamers or "clueless" types of people.  The maize aura is not necessarily bad, but is often a work in progress, and thus is more likely to be seen in younger people -- or in older folks who haven't quite grown up!

Sunshine yellow (think of Big Bird!) is a tremendously positive and confident representation of the yellow aura.  The sunshine aura bearer's enthusiasm and enjoyment of life is contagious to all those around him or her.

Lemon yellow
is a deeper shade than sunshine.  While some see this shade as an indication of shaky confidence and a perpetual fear of loss, it is also important to realize that lemon yellow auras can also reflect a tremendous inner strength which can override these fears if the bearer possesses enough tenacity.  If other colors are present in the aura, especially reds, browns, or blues, this fear and worry can be offset by practicality or self-soothing capabilities.

Goldenrod is a dustier, dimmer yellow which tends less in the direction of outward chipper tendencies, and into a more calm and inspirational ability.  These people can charm and motivate with their natural charisma, but must be wary of a tendency to take advantage of others.  Look for other aura colors to help strike a balance.

Mustard yellow is a more intense version of the goldenrod aura.  However, these people will often manipulate or control other people, usually without realizing that they're doing it.  Be careful of someone with a mustard aura -- they are not beyond help, but it's not easy for a yellow aura bearer to change, and even tougher to come to the realization that they need to change.  Try some aura polishing techniques if you need a positive change.  Every aura is different, and different things may work for various aura colors and aura patterns.  Do what feels right for you!

Aura Patterns and You

The auras of most people can be broken down into one of four categories -- yours may be part of one, or several at once.  Auras are as distinct as the people who possess them, and every single one is different!

1.  Glowing auras.  These tend to be one or two basic colors, or shades of the same color throughout the aura.  There may be large or small spots of a contrasting color interspersed throughout the background.  This aura seems to glow and simmer with a mystical, smouldering energy.  People with this type of aura tend to be passionate, creative, and are often looking for new and unusual ways to complete goals.  On the flip-side, they can often be impatient and have a tendency to jump to conclusions without having all the facts first.  The dynamic glowing aura corresponds to the element of fire signifying our creative life forces, passion, and sexuality.

2.  The smoky aura.  This one can be made up of similar shades, or completely different ones.  You will notice that it is hazy and foggy with either opaque or transparent clouds.  The colors often mix with one another and can seem rather indefinite.  Smoky aura people are often adaptable when the situation calls for it, and intelligent in their own ways (not always the conventional ones), but are prone to have trouble concentrating and focusing.  The smoky aura corresponds to the element of air, which pertains to our intellectual pursuits and higher thinking.

3.  Sparkling auras.  A sparkler tends to have one base color with tiny bits of color (or sparkles) spotting it.  This is similar to a glowing aura, though the spots are smaller, which gives it a shimmery or sparkly appearance.  People with sparkling auras tend to be very good at coping with practical problems.  They are often good at providing a stable center for those around them.  They are also persistent, and willing to work for what they feel is important.  Their negative qualities center around fear of loss or stubborrness in the face of change, but they are strong people who can weather even the toughest of storms.  Sparking auras correspond to the earth element, which has a special link to the physical and tangible.

4.  The banded aura.  Also called a striped, ribboned, or streaked aura, this pattern is an interesting one.  Streaks and bands, of varying thicknesses and directions, can be seen throughout the aura in complimentary or contrasting shades. Those who possess this pattern within their auras tend to be very emotional, nuturing, and inuitive.  Negative aspects of the banded aura include a tendency toward depression, obsession, self-absorption and worry.  The pattern itself corresponds to the element of water, which rules the emotions and inner world.

The Meaning of a Red Aura

Red is the hottest, most fiery shade of the spectrum. Corresponding to the element of fire and the Root chakra, it is a hue of passion, sexuality, and creativity.

People with a red aura, regardless of the shade of red or the amount of red within the aura, tend to be passionate and emotional people. They also have much creativity and innovation to offer the world, and thrive in arenas where making and producing are at the forefront. Red aura bearers are also often aggressive and opinionated -- sometimes for good, and sometimes for bad.

Brighter reds tend to be seen in people with higher levels of aggression, and the brighter the red, the more anger is being harbored by the aura bearer. This may be a temporary flash in the aura, but if a bright red color is a more permanent fixture, this person may need to learn how to relax or address the source of his or her anger.  Sometimes aura polishing techniques can help to soothe the burn.  Each aura is unique, and different things may work for various aura colors and aura patterns.  Go with your instincts!

The crimson aura, which is one of the darkest red shades, is a good representative of the versatility of a red aura. Creativity and innovative thinking are paramount in this aura shade.

Burgundy is another very dark, and very creative aura hue. People with a burgundy aura after often very tenacious and able to see difficult situations to the end.

Maroon is a brownish red shade with a deep, dark hue. Like most red-hued aura bearers, people with a maroon aura have a great deal of personal power; however, the brownish cast also helps this aura bearer stay grounded and self-disciplined.

Scarlet is a deep, but vivid red. This can indicate someone who is very confident thinks very highly of him- or herself.

Cinnabar or vermilion auras tend to be brighter and more positive red aura bearers, with a lighter and more artistic personality. They can also be highly charismatic.

People with a magenta aura tend to be seeking new horizons in their life, looking for change and improvement. They often wish to better themselves in body, mind, or personal circumstance.

The Meaning of an Orange Aura

Orange is a warm but fiery color within the aura spectrum. It combines the passion of red and the light optimism of yellow. Corresponding to the elements of fire and earth, and to the Sacral chakra, it is a hue of sensuality, positivity, and innovation.

People with an orange aura, regardless of the shade of orange or the amount of within the aura, tend to be positive, loyal people who enjoy making a difference in the world. Often they are brave and willing to go to the mat for the people that they love. On the negative side, however, they can also have a tendency to be gullible and to have trouble following through with all of the promises that they make.

Peach is one of the lightest in the orange family. This lovely light shade, when present in an aura, can indicate a talent for communicating ideas and thoughts to the people around the bearer. This aura is often seen in teachers and public speakers.

Tangerine is a bright, vivid orange which represents a strong motivation to achieve one's goals. This high level of inspiration can also serve as a source of motivation to others, provided that the aura bearer is also a good communicator or organizer.

Pumpkin orange, which is a medium orange hue, is a good balance of red's aggression and yellow's light touch. A pumpkin orange aura often represents self-discipline and a good head for small details. This person can often do well in leadership or management roles.

Burnt orange as an aura color indicates ambition and a need for change in occupation or station. Because of the brown elements within this shade, there can also be a tendency toward practicality, and on the negative side, selfishness.

An amber aura is seen as one of the more quintessential orange aura shades. There is a clarity of vision and understanding associated with it, as well as bravery and inner strength.

People with raw sienna auras tend to have the motivation of a fiery red aura bearer, but difficulty following through with their plans. They also have hindrances in communicating their thoughts or ideas. However, these issues can often be corrected.  You may want to try some aura polishing techniques in order to get things moving again!

Your Personal "Colour Ray"

This is another personality quiz-type writing which has circulated online for decades.  Enjoy!

What colour are you?  This is an interesting subject of which many people are unaware.   It is suggested that we are all made up of different vibrations, which align directly with the colours of the rainbow.  These are known as The Rays.  Although we are a jumble of all these colours, there is one predominant Ray that is said to relate to each individual.  Scroll down and see which one most clearly describes you.

NOTE: THE RAYS should never be thought of as being destructive in themselves, for they come from the Light of Pure Goodness.  However, in the density of the Physical Plane, this may become distorted sufficiently to effect destructive behaviour in less evolved souls.  Extremes of any Ray can have negative results.

The Red Ray of Will and Power.  People born under the Red Ray show excellent qualities of leadership.  They have extraordinary energy, and great strength, power, courage, and enthusiasm, with a persistent driving force as their keynote.  National rulers, high ranking officers, and those seeking authority and power for the advancement of humanity, are often born under this Ray.  They are also found amongst the greatest athletes and and defenders of the land.  There is often a strong "elemental attunement" to nature, and an innate understanding of the secret hidden forces of the animal and plant kingdoms, as well as the human mind.  People of the Red Ray of those who take initiative in business or other areas of oranisation and control.  There is nearly always an exceptional interest, if not participation in politics, although the motive generally would be in no way manipulative, but extremely direct, idealistic and forthright in approach.  However, with the pressures of the present day political arena, it can have its destructive influence, leading to a tendency towards aggression, and sometimes even war in the urgency to retain authority.

The Orange Ray of Knowledge and Science.  Those of the Orange Ray are born with a questioning logical mind. They are critical and clear thinking, ever seeking to find the reasoning behind the many illusive facets of life.  They are great moralists, with a strong sense of duty to their fellow man; looking deeply into the ethics of every situation, and are extremely individualistic in thought and action, for they live by high principles.  There is a strong belief in themselves, and their ability through education, to control their destiny.  Being so independent, they will likely insist on doing things "their way", unless it is proven to be unrealistic.  The Orange Ray is the ray of the scientific mind, and people of its vibration are both creative and objective in attitude, analysing events of importance with great accuracy and attention to detail.  It is not surprising that many of those in research are born under this Ray, for they believe that knowledge and experience is the key to wisdom.

The Yellow Ray of Art and Harmony through conflict.  The Yellow Ray is the ray that seeks to overcome confusion, and restore harmony from out of diversity.  It is the colour of the artist, who takes the profusion of the many accents of colour, and creates beauty in its greatest expression and form.  As Gandhi, through silent contemplation, sought to bring order out of confusion, so the people of this Ray search to uncover true peace from out of conflict.  They are often the catalysts of society, sparking into life a potentially dangerous situation yet, in doing so, forcing others to look into themselves and, through the pressure of diversity without, find unity within.  People of the Yellow Ray are refined, ascetic, far seeking and creative. They are those who dominate and mould the different cultures of the lands, and have been recognised as profound teachers through example.  They have a great impact and influence on humanity for they have the secret of the art of true living, and call attention to the need to strive for achievement.  What they give, they expect to receive and, once set on their goal, they seek to progress and grow, no matter what opposition may beset them, for they are contented and hopeful in the knowledge that an outer confrontation is only a struggle by which we inwardly evolve.

The Green Ray of Active Intelligence.  Those born into the impulse of the Green Ray are both mentally alert and clear in intellect. They have exceptional ability for planning and the formation of structure, hence they are often found in industry where construction and economy are necessary. Economics and Finance are likely their forte.  These people are dependable, reliable, with a tendency to live by certain rules of procedure, but there is a certain unity of purpose found within themselves and their loved ones. They are family people, working with both physical and mental agility to preserve the traditional foundations of the home.  Those of the Green Ray are capable of both clear active thought and constructive intelligence, and they are often the material that lawyers are made of, for they are well able to pursue an abstract principle to its final conclusion.  They believe strongly in the power of love, when directed under the control of constructive aims.  Many times these people have a persistent sense of destiny, believing that they have been chosen for a specific task to complete in life, and will often tolerate extremes of hardship in order to attain that end.  However, it is rare to find these people in conditions of financial difficulty, for their innate intelligence is attuned to avoiding such problems by careful planning, and active application.

The Blue Ray of Devotion and Idealism.  The Blue Ray is the ray associated with the Crusader.  People of high idealism, who fight ardently for a cause, and show great intensity of purpose towards their beliefs.  These people are often devoted to the aid of the "under-dog", for they are driven by the spirit of service to mankind, and an urgency for a Utopian Society.  In many cases, they are predominately religious but, even if otherwise, they often carry their "truth" high in the air, like a placard, for all to see; spreading the "word" with enthusiasm and happiness.  Many religious leaders and idealists. seeking Justice for the People, find prominence under this Ray, for their ardent devotion to a cause will likely sustain long after others weaken.  However, it is only the unevolved souls who can become bigoted in their direction for, mostly, these "messengers" urgently need to share their beliefs with those of others.  Yet in some ways, there is a certain fanaticism within the nature, leading these people to a single-minded and dedicated attitude, which upholds them and others in times of crisis.

The Indigo Ray of Love and Wisdom.  This is the Indigo Ray of endurance and love, and, those who are part of this stream of force are the seekers of lasting peace and truth.  Their motivation is magnetic and persisitent, portraying a unity of purpose throughout their nature, which often brings others to find solace in their company.  Those of the Indigo Ray are the sustainers and observers of life – receptive, adaptable, gentle "confessors" of humanity – and are known, by their example, as the healers and philosophers, who walk the path of wisdom.  Within all things, they search for understanding and the unity of common ground, and are well able to sacrifice their own needs for the welfare of others.  The keynote to the destiny of these people is love and charity in relationships and therein lies their true power, for they can become a fortress of strength for those of less endurance than themselves.  Their need to express their love is balanced in harmony with another’s need to receive.

The Violet Ray of Ceremonial Order and Ritual.  The Violet Ray is associated with the consolidation and control of energy which links the Higher with the Lower, or Spirit and Matter.  Those born under its vibration seek order and perfection in their lives, and are greatly disturbed by harsh aggressive behaviour, or anything that disrupts the smooth and well ordered running of their every day circumstances.  Their habits are constructive and well organised in ritual, even when involved in the most mundane of tasks.  These people are the architects of life; intuitive and perceptive of others, yet innately aware of their own inner direction.  Although sometimes rather traditional in their love of ceremony and order, there is a certain inner restlessness to the character, which seeks to concentrate their aspiring energy towards a definite object or goal.  There is normally a strong belief in the dominance of unseen forces, and many practising magicians of quality are born under this Ray, who attune themselves admirably to the fluctuations of Nature and her seasons.

Aura Polishing Techniques

A friend of mine who's very much into aura healing and cleansing shared this ritual with me. He does this every few days or so, in order to keep things balanced. It's unusual, to say the least, but definitely worth a shot if you're inclined toward working with your auras. This is what I've learned about aura cleansing, so I hope you enjoy it!  Every aura is different, and different things may work for various aura colors and aura patterns.

Strengthening and healing one's auras should be done each day, in order to keep things running smoothly. This is especially true if you know that you're going to be in a stressful situation, or if you're going to be around emotional vampires or other negative folks who drain away your energy.

In order to protect your aura, the first thing to do is to put up a spiritual "stop sign" to protect yourself from outside energy interfering. One way to do this is to cross your arms and legs in a protective stance (or sitting position).

Then, you can try my friend's unusual breathing technique which is said to clear the aura and balance the chakras. With this cleansing, your auric area is cleansed and your mind-body connection is balanced. It is done by breathing in with one nostril, then out with the other.

First, hold your nose as if you're going underwater; just pinch it between your fingers, but don't apply any pressure. Close off one nostril and breathe out. Keep your tongue steady and low in the mouth, just behind the front teeth. Apply pressure to the other nostril while releasing the original one, and then breathe in for a few seconds. Hold the breath for 10-15 seconds if you can; otherwise, just do it for as long as you can. Then exhale, and do the same thing with the other nostril. Repeat the entire process half a dozen times or so. It shouldn't take longer than a couple of minutes.

I'm still learning about auric work, so I'm not sure how standard the above exercise is. However, one thing I can say about it is that with all of the concentrating on breath, it certainly can help to refocus your mind onto something new if you're worried or stressed. Breathing exercises are often quite calming and strengthening. I often do a similar breathing exercise without all of the nose pinching. Do what feels most comfortable for you.

As you're breathing, you can also try a "cleansing vortex" visualization. To do this, as you're breathing, visualize a swirling vortex of light, beginning in your midsection, and whirling outward and away from you, cleansing and healing your entire body, removing and dispeling all negativity that is embedded within. Imagine the negativity changing to positive energy, then visualize the whirlwind scattering this positive energy outward and away, releasing it into the general environment and doing good things for others.
